Intentional Networking

As we continue to build on our theme this year, Financial Possibilities – Financial Opportunities, networking is a vital part of the equation. Networking is all about building meaningful and mutually beneficial connections. Our connections with other people are an essential part of our existence here on this planet. There is a medical condition called “failure to thrive”, where an infant fails to grow or gain weight appropriately over a period of time and the number one reason for that is a lack of touch, stimulation and love. Much like infants, our networks can “fail to thrive” for those same reasons. Even as adults, we still need sensory input, human interaction, and most importantly love. There are times when a particular web of relationships needs more or less nurturing. However, if we fail to provide essential care and attention, over time they will wither and die. So like the seeds planted by the farmer need water, sun and attention, so do our networks. In order for any of our web of relationships to thrive, it’s important to cultivate them much like a farmer tending to his fields. Attending a networking event or making a connection is simply planting the seed. As we tend to this initial contact and provide it with the care, nurturing and attention is deserves, we start to see the fruits of our efforts blossom.

Our networks are the webs that connect us, nourish us, sometimes frustrate us, and hopefully provide fulfillment as well. And we interact with many different kinds of networks on a daily basis – family, social, business – just to name a few. There are also times when a circle of contacts is no longer needed in our lives and much like weeds need to be cleared to create space for new spheres to enter our lives. When choosing to cultivate or clear space for the new, it’s important to set intentions. What do you want to accomplish and how can other people help you? What can you accomplish more quickly or powerfully with allies? How can you help someone else and thereby assist them in accomplishing their goals more easily? As I look back on still very new year of Financial Possibilities – Financial Opportunities, I can already see the seeds that were planted with this intention are starting to sprout. Through my wonderful NAWBO network, both local and national, I’ve been able to connect a fellow member with a publisher, received assistance in scheduling an amazing national speaker for our chapter this fall, received amazing best practices from other NAWBO chapters to share with this year’s board, and gotten to know better what amazing beings I have in my network, just to name a few. On almost a daily basis I receive confirmation that a network it is a symbiotic relationship and the more love and attention I give, I find myself receiving even more abundantly.

This month we are having one of four dedicated networking events for the year. Each one will be different and perhaps give you additional tools and ideas to help you cultivate healthy and vibrant networks that thrive.

Prosperity blessings,

Platinum Profile – Angie Thurman

Angie Thurman
Premier Designs Jewelry

When Angie was eight years old, her family was dirt poor, living on a farm in Georgia. There was a man in town who drove a brand new Cadillac every two years. Angie was impressed. She asked her dad how he was able to do that. Her dad told her that the man owned a ranch and a number of companies. Angie decided that she was going to own her own company some day.

After being a school teacher, the manager of a store in a mall, and rearing two children, her dream came true. She knew that she wanted to be involved in direct sales, but couldn’t find the right company. One day she met a woman who introduced her to Premier Designs. It incorporated her many loves – teaching ladies how to accessorize their wardrobes, making friends, laughing, and playing with jewelry – with her values – bringing people back in touch with each other, engaging in a business built upon biblical principles and honoring God. A perfect fit. However, she didn’t know much about business. She became a member of NAWBO because she was looking for women to emulate. She found them, got to know them, learned from them and was inspired by them. Angie feels it is now her turn to teach and inspire.

In 2005, she set her goal to become a 4 Diamond distributer before the age of 60…and she achieved it by helping ten people grow their own businesses.
Recently, Angie and her husband were honored on stage (in tux and gown!) as one of the Top 100 distributers for Premier Designs Jewelry in the nation at the National Premier Rally.

Her best achievements are being married for 38 years to the man she loves, and having two emotionally stable, well-educated, well-married, professional children, one of whom is a nurse, the other a mechanical engineer, who both love the Lord.

Getting in her truck and heading for the mountains to take photographs of nature is one of her favorite hobbies.

Thank you, Angie for supporting NAWBO and providing the opportunity for us to have FUN, FOOD, and FASHION!
