Tough Cookie Awards 2010

image The NAWBO Northern New Mexico 2010 Tough Cookie Awards recognize women-owned small businesses that have overcome unusual hardships to succeed. Winning companies have succeeded in spite of obstacles such as illness, finances, employee issues, or other factors.


To be eligible a business must be at least 51% women-owned and have five or fewer employees. The business must be based in New Mexico. You do not have to be a member of NAWBO to submit an entry.

Categories include:
• Small manufacturer
• Wholesale/Retail (storefront or online)
• Services
• Virtual business (not retail)

How to submit an entry
To submit an entry, download the entry form from the NAWBO NNM Website, fill it out, and email it to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address). You must sign the statement that the company is financially viable.

The entry requires background information about the company and then answers to the following:
1. The category
2. What is the goal of the business?
3. Summarize your business plan
4. Describe the obstacles you faced
5. Describe how you overcame those obstacles
6. Describe the current status of your business and your goals going forward

Judging process
Judges review each entry and score it using a judging form. Scores for each entry will be totaled, and the highest scoring entry in each category is the winner.

Judges
Judges include members of the board and a representative from each sponsor.

Awards ceremony
Winners will be announced at the March meeting at the Embassy Suites Hotel.
