The pre-meeting program will prepare us for the April meeting which is the Legislative Speak Out meeting. Pre-meeting topic is;  “How the State Budget Shortfalls affect all NAWBO members” 

March is the Annual National Membership Drive.  Receive $25 off your National Dues if you join in March. 

This is your opportunity to invite other women business owners to share the resources and support of the premier national business organization for women owned businesses.  Prospective members can register on line at any time after March 1, 2010 and receive $25.00 off of the national dues.  At our March and April general meetings, current members will be available to sign prospective members up on the spot.  Bring you friends and associates for immediate sign up, a great dinner and an outstanding speaker as well as prizes and drawings!
A grand prize will be awarded at our April meeting to the member who brings in the most new members during the Membership Drive.

Dinner Meeting Program

image  Yolanda Garcia Olivarez, Regional Administrator for Small Business Administration’s Region VI will be speaking about the current economy and recovery, the opportunities offered, and how SBA programs can enhance those opportunities.

Yolanda was appointed Regional Administrator for SBA’s Region VI in August 2009.  As Regional Administrator, Olivarez is responsible for the delivery of the agency’s programs in Region VI, which is headquartered in Dallas and includes Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma.  The SBA helps Americans, start, build and grow businesses. 

Before joining SBA, Olivarez has spent more than 35 years in the trade, commerce and financial services industries.  Since 1995 she has been a senior vice president/commercial lender and business development officer at Wells Fargo Bank.  She also served 12 years as a Port Commissioner for the Port of Corpus Christi, where she led public finance bond projects for government entities on the state and federal level.  Olivarez was the first woman and Hispanic to chair the commission in its 75 year history. 

Yolanda has served as a member of several boards and commissions and for her service has been recognized by several organizations, including the National Museum of Mexican Art’s 2009 Sor Juana Women of Achievement Award, the Wall of Honor for Del Mar College, the League of United Latin American Citizens, and the Advance Selena Award.  She has also been active in the March of Dimes, United Way, American Heart Association, Texas Tomorrow Fund, Costal Bend Bays and Estuaries, the Corpus Christi Community Development Housing Corporation, Christus Spohn Hospital Board and the Catholic Finance Diocese of South Texas. 

Yolanda and her husband Ronnie, are the proud parents of daughter Sofia Anna.

Pre Meeting Program 5:00 PM

“How the State Budget Shortfalls affect all NAWBO members”
The purpose of this pre-meeting is talk about the State’s fiscal situation and how it directly impacts all of our businesses.  This pre-meeting is being held in advance of our Legislative Speak Out meeting in April where we will be bring in our State legislators to hear our thoughts on this topic.  We’ll have the opportunity to expres sour views face-to-face to about 20 legislators.  This meeting will educate us and help us prepare for this discussion.  We’ll be discussing the State’s budget shortfall and the potential impact to small business.  We’ll also talk about the regulatory environment at the State and concerns we might have about the growing costs at the State.
