Greetings from our new President Debbie Maestas
Happy Independence Day! As Americans, we are fortunate to live in a country that provides us with freedom and opportunity, which affects the ways in which we live, work and play.
I’d like to thank each of our committee chairs, as well as our committee members, for an enjoyable and memorable installation meeting. It was a great evening that marks the beginning of our new 2011-2012 year. A special thanks and warm welcome to our new board members who will be serving on the NAWBO board this year!
Our board is gearing up for our upcoming planning retreat in late July. I have had the pleasure of meeting one-on-one with each of our board members, seeking input and ideas about how to better serve you, our members. Initially, we sought input from our membership in regard to demographics, revenue and topics of interest for our programs. Thank you to all who participated in this important member-feedback survey! Your input, along with the exciting ideas brought forth by our new board, will be discussed and solidified into our 2011-2012 NAWBO Roadmap.
As stated in my acceptance remarks, my mantra is “To help NAWBO members STAY in Business and GROW their Business.” I believe it is critical that we enable small businesses to retain and hire new employees. Our upcoming programs will provide insightful ideas and information on how to survive and thrive during these challenging economic times. I look forward to hearing Secretary Barela share his vision and ideas on how the New Mexico Economic Development department will set the stage for growth and support for our small businesses.
In closing, I would like to especially thank Robin for her leadership and commitment to NAWBO and the members we serve.
